Fat
360 revision: Falcon
Firmware OFW
Dash revision: 2.0.13604
Drive Type: BenQ
Xk3y revision: R7-2 Falt Flex Cable
x360key Supplier: Ombouw Service (Benelux)
About Info / xKey Firmware Version: 1.06
USB device type: Powered, model: Freecom 400GB
Partition type/size: NTFS
USB cables: Micro usb, HTC phone cable

Hey guys,

Got the xkey for 2 weeks now, and I am really enjoying it! Bad thing only is when i play for instance Fifa12. I can play for like 30-45 minutes and then in all of a sudden it starts lagging and said: Disk unreadable (clean with cloth): restart xbox (when the xkey screen sais: playing game fifa12). Its not severe, i can just restart the xbox and start fifa again, but its annoying when already playing a game... It has nothing to do with dae.bin or firmware on sd card coz i'm pretty sure I done that right.

This also happend to me when playing Forza 4.

It didnt happen to me when playing Skyrim (which I also installed on the xbox HDD).

Regards

When you say "USB device type: Powered, model: Freecom 400GB" do you mean powered by external plug?

If it's not powered by a mains socket then I'd try the same game with a HDD that is. I've found the power coming from the Xbox -> Xkey -> HDD is not the best and haven't had any issues with a HDD that plugs into the mains.

It could also be the HDD going to "sleep" if it's not being actually accessed for a period of time.

Have you installed the game with the issue, onto your Xbox's HDD? Do it install or fail during install?

Maybe your HDD is going into sleep mode...

Others have had issue with NTFS but then on the same drive Have no issues with EXT3.. There are several good threads on ext3, what to use to format and how to see in windows.

Not saying to go ext3 route - just saying potentially think about it

@feidhlim Its powered by an external plug (electricity net), the setup is as it 'should' be in the way that the HDD is not directly connected to the xbox, but through the xkey screen.

@Zephyr I've read the threads about HDD's going into sleep mode, really odd... never heard of HDD's doing that.., however i do not doubt they do :P Do you think the problem has to do with my HDD, really? It has been acting weird tho, even before I had the xkey, sometimes it suddenly restarts (the HDD), but then the xkey sais: disk fail. But when the xbox sais: disk unreadable the xkey screen sais: playing game x.

Thanks for both your replies :) I'll look into the ext3 threads and see if i can find anything usefull.

Could try a chkdsk /f on your HDD.

Manufactures place sleep / spindown mode as a power saving feature. When not innuse after X seconds make HDD sleep / spindown

Do you have another drive you can temporarily test with. Maybe a y cable to supply more power - if not using one - might also help

I do have another disk, a 1.5TB Freecom XS, but that one wont be detected at all, so cant really compare.. I don't have a y cable for the other HDD, but i'm using the original a/c power cord, so wouldn't that be sufficient? But if u think a y cable might be the solution, ill buy one tomorrow...

My 1.5TB Freecom drive makes a tick-, clicking sound when connected, i read on internet it could be power supply, what do you think?

Yes - own power supply from wall is sufficient so y cable not needed

As for the ticking on tw other drive. Either stuffed drive or not enough power coming from power supply

Heya,

Both the HDD are using their original power supply cables, and im pretty sure the 1.5TB drive is not stuffed, since i can still access it through the pc and put stuff on it. I think the way to go is to just buy a new HDD....

Any suggestions on a 400-800GB HDD? (That you know of, is really working well with the xkey)
